Navigating the PR Agency Selection Process: A Personal Checklist

While I have worked on multiple product and retail launches, hiring a PR agency has always been one of the toughest decisions. From connecting with their team and scrutinizing their pitches to multiple meetings and finally making a decision, the process is rigorous. Moreover, there's always a sense of guilt for not choosing some agencies for the launch.

Over time, I have created a personal checklist to streamline the process of contacting agencies and setting up meetings only after shortlisting them:

Team Size

Believe me, the size of their team matters. A larger team indicates that they can cover all aspects of promotion and brainstorm effectively for the product launch. If someone becomes unavailable, there's always another team member who can step in and handle queries or follow up on dedicated tasks. This reflects the agency’s brand authenticity.

Team Confidence and Company Loyalty

As I have mentioned time and again, employee satisfaction is key to any company's growth, and it shows in how committed the team is to the project. When talking to the team, try to network and gauge their personal thoughts about the company they represent. If the team feels safe and confident about their agency, it indicates they are likely to take good care of my brand as well.

Previous Work and Engagement

Request case studies of their previous work and observe how they ask questions before sending their pitch. This reveals their enthusiasm and whether they have experience with similar projects. Their questions can also provide insight into their understanding and dedication to the task at hand.

I would love to know more tips which will help me in future. Please share those in the comment section.
